ORIENT STAR Sports Diver brings a new aesthetic to the collection.
Inspired by more than 65 years of independent Japanese mechanical watchmaking, ORIENT STAR has been awarded the 2019 Good Design Award for its new Sports Diver collection.
Announced earlier this month, the ORIENT STAR Sports Diver family of timepieces was identified for its seamless craftsmanship and exceptional attention to detail, combining functionality with a fresh feel.
The GDA Judges panel commented: “While designed in the continuous style of a diving watch, it features a large case with a face taking up minimal space, giving it a feeling of substantiality.” “The design reflects the watchmaker’s knowhow in mechanical watches in a way that gives the watch a personal, familiar feel.”
Acknowledged as one of the four greatest design awards in the world, The GDA is a
movement aimed at enriching lives and society through design. Recognising various industrial goods, architecture, software, systems, and services, The GDA is Japan’s leading design evaluation and commendation system.
The ORIENT STAR Diver timepiece is powered by the automatic calibre F6N47, with a 50 hour power reserve. This in-house manufactured automatic movement with handwinding is designed and assembled by ORIENT horologists in the mountains of Akita, Japan, in accordance with the Japanese principle of Monozukuri, meaning the art and science of manufacturing.
This reliable and consistent movement is surrounded by a 43.6mm stainless steel case, accented with a silver stainless steel rotating bezel and dial details, including the iconic ORIENT STAR logo. This is partnered with a navy blue brushed satin dial, power reserve indicator, and a stainless steel metal strap.
The ORIENT STAR Diver range of timepieces was first introduced to watch connoisseurs in August 2019. Since then, its artfully balanced dial and functional complications have captured the attention of passionate ORIENT STAR collectors and new fans of the brand.
The ORIENT STAR Diver Collection contains three stylish colourways, all with stainless steel cases: navy or black dial with a stainless-steel bracelet, or a navy dial with a black silicon strap, combining functionality with a fresh feel.
