The Sommerso pro-diver watch, born from Italo Fontana’s passion for scuba diving, in its most acclaimed version in bronze that recalls ancient marine exploration equipment, is now launched in a new model with a ceramic bezel.
Always fascinated by contrasts, Italo combines the bronze of the 46 mm case, with its vintage look emphasized by natural oxidation, with the ceramic used for the new circular ring placed on the bezel, the latter essential requirement of any professional diving watch.
This ceramic, widely used in the aerospace industry, boasts a very high heat resistance and keeps the bezel color intense, and unaltered over time, even after long exposure to ultraviolet rays. The challenging of himself, experimenting new things, the freedom of his creativity and the having fun have all always been firm points of the lifestyle as well as the creative universe of the U-BOAT designer from Lucca.
Alongside the marked and iconic design of the watches, the search for particular materials and their combination sometimes with opposite characteristics has always been a cornerstone of his creative process.
Like an alchemist, Italo challenges his curiosity every day and experiments how elements and materials can react and harmonize once combined and tested to overcome any limit.
Over the years we have witnessed the creation of innovative U-BOAT watches capable to reach to a depth of 1001 meters, others with dials changing color upon exposure to light, still others featuring un-scratchable
bezels or cases immersed in oil baths in order to obtain three-dimensional effects and absolute black.
Watches forged in materials everchanging over time, such as untreated bronze or silver, have been coupled by others, from the army, naval and aerospace industries, indestructible and immutable such as titanium,
carbon and tungsten.
The watch features on the left side the iconic U-BOAT crown with its patented protection device as well as a plaque engraved with the serial number while the antiqued bronze back-case has been subjected to a special anti-corrosion treatment and it is screwed down.
A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the black dial of the watch with luminous beige hands and markers plus an additional 24-hour counter and date window placed at 9 o’clock.
The watch boasts a Swiss automatic mechanical movement, customized to U-BOAT specifications with date, hours, minutes, seconds and it is water resistant to a depth of 300 meters.

SOMMERSO BRONZE CERAMIC BEZEL
MOVEMENT: swiss automatic mechanical, personalized to U-BOAT specifications. Frequency: 28,800 vibrations per hour. Power reserve: 44 hours. 26 jewels. Skeletonized rotor.
FUNCTIONS: date, hours, minutes, seconds, 24h indicator. Graduated unidirectional bezel with ceramic inserts and lasered graduations and numerals, screw down crown.
CASE: bronze, naturally aged, distinguishing crown on the left side, with a patented protective device. Serial number plate fixed on the left side of the
case. Diameter 46 mm.
BACK: sealed with seven screws, in bronze with special antiqued anti-corrosion treatment.
DIAL: three superimposed dials, the upper one in black with visible ruby. Luminous beige hands, numbers and markers, treated with superluminova.
Red 24h indicator hand.
CRYSTAL: sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating for perfect legibility of the dial.
WATER RESISTANCE: 300 mt, 30 ATM
